The Folksbiene Theatre will present Theodore Bikel’s solo show with music, Sholom Aleichem: Laughter Through Tears, at New York City’s Baruch Performing Arts Center, November 8- December 13. The show is directed by Derek Goldman, and features set design by Robbie Hayes, projection design by Zachary Boravay, and lighting design by Dan Covey.
The show, which is based on the true tale of the great Yiddish storyteller’s youth, fame, and challenging journey to America where he eventually died. The play includes a rich catalogue of Yiddish songs performed with Grammy-nominated pianist Tamara Brooks and internationally-renowned Bosnian accordionist Merima Kljuco.
Bikel’s most famous roles include the original Baron Von Trapp in The Sound of Music and Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.
