The Acting Company will present a one-night-only benefit reading of Tennessee Williams' play The Rose Tattoo on Monday, April 27, at Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Directed by Doug Hughes, the production will star two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone and two-time Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale.

The Rose Tattoo is the story of Serafina (LuPone), a Louisiana widow who withdraws from the world after her husband's death and expects her daughter to do the same. One day, Alvaro (Cannavale), a man resembling her late husband, comes into her life and unlocks her passion, wit, anger, and pride. Maureen Stapleton and Eli Wallach originated the roles of Serafina and Alvaro in the play's first Broadway production in 1951.

LuPone returns to the stage this summer in Douglas Carter Beane's Shows for Days at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. An original member of the Acting Company, she won Tony Awards for her performances in Evita and Gypsy. Cannavale last appeared on Broadway in The Big Knife, and received Emmys for his performances on Will & Grace and Boardwalk Empire.
