Academy Award winner and Broadway veteran F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus) will join the cast of Terrence McNally’s new play Golden Age, at Manhattan Theatre Club New York City Center – Stage I in the role of Rossini, replacing the previously announced Richard Easton.
Tony Award winning-director Walter Bobbie (Chicago) helms the production, which begins performances on November 15 and opens officially on December 4.
The play takes place on the opening night of Vincenzo Bellini’s new opera, I Puritani, where the composer is determined to impress not only his audience, but his rivals as well.
The cast also features Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth (Chicago) and Drama Desk Award winner Lee Pace (The Normal Heart), along with Dierdre Friel, Coco Monroe, Ethan Phillips, Lorenzo Pisoni, Will Rogers, and Eddie Kaye Thomas.
Abraham’s many theater credits include The Merchant of Venice, Mauritius, Angels in America, Teibele and Her Demon, and The Ritz. He won the Oscar for Amadeus.
