The new show will explore the life of the iconic singer.
A new musical following the life of music icon Cher is in the works, according to a casting notice for a January 2-14, 2017, staged reading. The show will be directed by Jason Moore (Avenue Q), have a book by Rick Elice (Peter and the Starcatcher), and will use songs from Cher's illustrious canon of music.
The show is described as follows: "In this production, the characters of Babe, Lady, and Star represent Cher at different moments of her life — starting as a teenager who falls for Sonny Bono (Babe), a successful music star navigating the challenges of the entertainment industry (Lady) and the lady we know today with a fascinating wealth of life experience, successes, and failures (Star)."
Flody Suarez and Jeffrey Seller will produce. No timeline for an actual production has been set.
