The Raymond F. Kravis Center in West Palm Beach has announced its 2008-2009 season.
Among the theatrical highlights are an evening with Barbara Cook (December 16); Laughter and Reflection with Carol Burnett, a conversation with the acclaimed comedian where the audience asks the questions (January 17); a conversation with composer Stephen Sondheim, moderated by Sean Flahaven with musical illustrations by Christine Ebersole and accompaniment by Billy Stritch (February 4); Rita McKenzie in Ethel Merman’s Broadway (February 10); Lily Tomlin performing her classic stand-up (February 10); Tovah Feldshuh recreating her Tony-nominated performance in Golda’s Balcony (February 11); an evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin (March 25); and Brian Stokes Mitchell with special guest star Melissa Errico (April 9).
The season will also include the touring musicals The Pajama Game (November 21), Avenue Q (November 25-30), Forbidden Broadway: 25th Anniversary Tour (December 26-31), The Drowsy Chaperone (January 6-11); Legally Blonde The Musical (March 17-22), and Fiddler on the Roof starring Topol (April 14-19).
Additional theater events will include Sesame Street Live: When Elmo Grows Up (September 25-28); Emmy winner Robert Wuhl in Assume the Position (October 23-26), an irreverent comedic history lesson; Claire Bloom in Women in Shakespeare (November 6-7); the Drama Desk-nominated solo show Dixie’s Tupperware Party (November 11-16); Marc Salem’s Mind Games and All That Jazz (December 10-14); Brad Zimmerman in My Son, the Waiter, A Jewish Tragedy (December 21-24); Aquila Theatre Company’s productions of The Iliad (January 22-23) and The Comedy of Errors (January 24-26); Chicago City Limits latest improvisational comedy revue MySpace or Yours? (January 30-31); Jackie Mason (February 2); real-life husband and wife team Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna in If You Ever Leave Me…I’m Going With You! (February 12); Capitol Steps (February 24-March 11); composer Marvin Hamlisch (March 8); Michael Feinstein’s Salute to the Stars of MGM and Hollywood, starring Vic Damone, Arlene Dahl, Tony Martin, Jane Powell, and Jane Russell, hosted by Powell and Robert Osborne (March 23); The Peking Acrobats (March 24); Neil Berg’s 101 Years of Broadway (April 7); Mike Daisey’s solo, Monopoly! (April 16-17); Don Rickles and Regis Philbin (April 24); Magic Tree House: The Musical (May 3); and The Wizard of Oz (May 12-17).
