The Ontological Theater Announces Line-Up for Incubator Series

The Ontological Theater has announced the line-up for its fifth Incubator series, the theater’s programming for emerging artists.

The collaborative theater company Hoi Polloi will present The Less We Talk (April 16-May 2), directed by Alec Duffy, with scenic design by Mimi Lien, lighting by Miranda Hardy, and costumes by Jessica Pabst. The piece trains its sights on choral singing in America.

The Assembly will present Krista Knight’s Clementine and the Cyber Ducks (May 7-9), directed by Jess Chayes, with set by Nick Benacerraf, lighting by Greg Malen, costumes by Andrea Lipsky-Karasz, sound by Asa Wember, choreography by Kelly Klein, and dramaturgy by Stephen Aubrey. Performers in this play about capitalism, the American Dream, and the costs of desire will include Emily Perkins, Cara Francis, Ben Beckley, Edward Bauer, Siobhan Doherty, Patrick Long, and Jeff Seal.

The Paper Industry’s latest “ugly opera,” Sine Wave Goodbye (May 14-23) is written and directed by Jamie Peterson with set and lighting by Peter Ksander and costumes by Meghan Buchanan. In it, a man named M escapes the social machine only to lose himself inside his mind, rife with falling walls, forced dancing, and maybe just a little bit of truth about Isaac Newton. The cast will include Adam Lerman, Brian Smolin, Ilan Bachrach, Megan Tusing, and Stephanie Austin Green.

The Shalimar will present Nastaran Ahmadi’s Strangers (May 28-June 13), which employs live music and video to explore our national identity and cultural mythology. Shoshona Currier will direct, with original music composed by Anthony Gabriele, lighting and set design by Ben Kato, costumes by Sydney Maresca, and performances by Joey Williamson, Jen Taher, Kim Gainer, and Franny Silverman.

In addition, the Ontological’s Short Form Festival (June 18-20) of 10-minute performances will feature Everywhere Theatre Group’s A Pale Horse, Death and Hell Followed with (a Lifetime Original Series), Heidi Carlsen and Miranda k Hardy’s I Know, The Watson College Presents’ The Insomnambulist, and Eric Magnus and Barbara Eldredge’s What is Wild.
