A new reading of the musical Reefer Madness will take place on Thursday, April 18, directed by Stephen Brackett (Be More Chill).

Reefer Madness the Musical features a book by Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney, music by Studney, and lyrics by Murphy. Music supervision is by Lance Horne, with musical direction by Matthew Aument.

The reading will feature Ethan Slater as Jimmy, Gizel Jiménez as Mary, Javier Muñoz as Jack/Jesus, Tony Award winner Lena Hall as Mae, Asmeret Ghebremichael as Sally, Eric Petersen as Ralph, Robert Cuccioli as the Lecturer, and Aury Krebs as Placard Girl. The ensemble includes Eleanor Phillips, Heather Parcells, Genesis Collado, Sav Souza, Ryan Ortega, and Jacob Thompson.

Inspired by the original 1936 film of the same name, Reefer Madness the Musical is a raucous musical comedy that takes a satirical look at the hilarity caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex, and violence.

David Carpenter, John Arthur Pinckard, Christian Campbell, and America Olivo will present the reading, with future plans to be announced this summer.
