Steve Martin's Meteor Shower Extends at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre
Gordon Edelstein will direct the new comedy.
The Old Globe Theatre production of Steve Martin's new play Meteor Shower has extended its San Diego run by a week, and will now play through September 11. Performances begin July 30 under the direction of Gordon Edelstein.
The play is described as follows: "Get ready for the unexpected when Norm and his wife Corky invite another couple to their Ojai backyard to watch a meteor shower in the night sky. As the stars come out and the conversation gets rolling, cocktails flow, tempers flare, and sparks fly—literally. Steve Martin's surprising new comedy takes an offbeat and absurdist look at the comic anxiety lurking just beneath the surface of modern marriage."
Casting and creative team will be announced at a later date. The production is Martin's latest collaboration with the Old Globe, where his and Edie Brickell's Outer Critics Circle Award-winning musical Bright Star premiered in 2015. The Globe will also present Martin's play Picasso at the Lapin Agile February 4-March 12.
