Orlando Shakespeare Theater Announces 2012-2013 Season

Orlando Shakespeare Theater has announced the productions set for its 2012-2013 season, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The season will begin with Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield’s The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) (September 12-October 7) a comedic collection of bits and pieces of all of Shakespeare’s plays. Next, the theater will present David Mamet’s Race (October 10-November 11), the story of three attorneys who must decide whether or not to represent a white man accused of assaulting a black woman. Orlando Shakespeare will celebrate the holiday season with The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of A Christmas Carol (November 28-December 30), a spoof of the many productions of the Dickens’ classic.

In 2013, Shakespeare’s Othello (January 12-March 16) will follow the celebrated general as his lieutenant secretly plots vengeance. Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility (February 6-March 17) will be presented in the spring. Titus Andronicus (March 27-April 28), Shakespeare’s bloody tragedy, will be the final production of the season and the second work of Shakespeare.+

In addition, the theaters program for young audiences will present Cinderella (June 21-July 29), A Year With Frog and Toad (October 18-November 17), and Miss Nelson Has a Field Day (April 4-May 5).

The short Studio Series in Mandell Theater will include The Exit Interview (September 27-October 21) and The Odyssey (February 14-March 17).
