Ars Nova Announces World Premiere of KPOP

This new immersive theater work will feature a predominantly Asian and Asian-American cast.

Ars Nova, the theater company behind Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 among other shows, announced the world premiere of KPOP, a new theater work running from September 5-October 7 at A.R.T./New York Theatres.

KPOP, presented in association with Ma-Yi Theater and Woodshed Collective, is described as "a high-octane immersive event that gives you a backstage pass to a K-pop music factory." It features a predominantly Asian and Asian-American cast including Julia Abueva, Cathy Ang, Katie Lee Hill, Joomin Hwang, Jinwoo Jung, Jiho Kang, Deborah Kim, Susannah Kim, Ashley Park (Sunday in the Park With George), Sun Hye Park, James Saito, James Seol (Small Mouth Sounds), David Shih, Jason Tam (If/Then), John Yi, and Ebony Williams.

The music and lyrics are written by Helen Park and Max Vernon, and the book is by Jason Kim. Teddy Bergman directs. The creative team includes Jennifer Weber (choreography) and Woodshed Collective (immersive design).
