On Monday, September 27, the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF) celebrated its opening night with a gala hosted by Honorary Chairman Baz Luhrmann. Actress Claire Danes presented Luhrmann with an award for his support of the Festival.
Other celebrities in the house included Liz Larsen, Max Von Essen, and original Rent stars Anthony Rapp, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Fredi Walker, and Wilson Jermaine Heredia. Kelli O’Hara also took the stage to share one of her favorite songs with the crowd at the after party.
The festival runs September 27-October 17, and features 27 musical productions, a developmental reading series, and special events.
