The event will take place on February 28.
The Broadway League has announced that Kinky Boots star Todrick Hall will be the National Ambassador for the 2017 Kids' Night on Broadway, which will take place February 28. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday, December 6.
"When I was a child and saw my first Broadway show," Hall said in a statement, "I never knew that people could do this as a career. That they could entertain people, help people escape from the crazy things happening and enjoy live singing and dancing and experience someone leaving their heart on the stage. It’s cool in this day and age to see someone not on their phone, but to be completely invested. I hope and pray that it changes kids’ lives and doesn’t just impact their life for this one night, but inspires them to go chase their dreams. No dream is too small or too large. For me to come from a small farming community in Texas to now being on Broadway means that anything is possible, no matter what age, race, ethnicity or background. You can achieve anything you want as long as you believe in yourself and really dedicate your time to fine tuning your craft."
Kids' Night on Broadway is an annual event where children 18 and under can attend participating Broadway shows for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. A ticket includes restaurant and parking discounts, educational programs, and in-theater activities including talkbacks. Kids' Night on Broadway will also take place in multiple cities around the country, with different shows and venues offering their own spin on the event.
To date, Broadway's participating 2017 shows include Aladdin, Beautiful — The Carole King Musical, A Bronx Tale — The Musical, Cats, Chicago, Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, In Transit, Jitney, Kinky Boots, The Lion King, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, On Your Feet!, The Phantom of the Opera, School of Rock, Significant Other, Waitress, and Wicked.
