WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Nominated for 13 Tony Awards including Best Musical! Inspired by a true story and based on the 2005 film, Kinky Boots follows Charlie Price (Stark Sands), whose recently deceased father has left him a nearly bankrupt shoe factory. In an effort to live up to his father's legacy and save the family business, Charlie works to turn the factory around. He finds inspiration in a sassy drag performer named Lola (Billy Porter) who inspires Charlie to create a line of boots study enough for a man, but elegant and fabulous enough for a lady. As the unlikely pair work together to save the factory with their "Kinky Boots," they discover that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world. Directed by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray), Kinky Boots features a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Newsies) and a score by the Grammy Award-winning pop star Cyndi Lauper, making her theatrical music-writing debut. General Rush tickets are $37.00 ($35 + $2 facility fee) and are available at the box office only on the day of the performance (at 10AM or on Sundays at noon). No student ID required. There is a maximum of two tickets per person.

Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein's musical adaptation of the 2005 British film about transvestite footwear is distinctly American — and entirely more fun.

I LOVED Kinky Boots!
Saw a preview performance of Kinky Boots last evening, with 2 friends, and we were all very very very happy we went! The show was great! The music was wonderful, and the book was fabulous! Harvey - We laughed our behinds off!!! I am looking forward to the cast recording which I will definately be purchasing. Congratulations to Cyndi and Harvey on their B'way collaboration!!!! I think this show will win theatre goer's hearts. The story was really great, all the actors were superb, the direction and the sets were great. I will tell you now, Billy Porter is in serious contention for the Tony for best Actor in a Musical and Anne Leigh Ashford also should be nominated for Best supporting actress in a musical. These two give the kind of performances you remember for a long time. Kinky Boots is a fun story with a few good life lessons performed with love, passion and exuberance! What more could you ask for? An amazing finale? A happy ending? Kinky Boots - You got it! I go to the theater regularly and with Broadway being very expensive these days, even on discount, we must be choosy as to what we see, and I have no problem recommending that you choose Kinky Boots!!!! PS - l also loved all the Kinky Boots, they were fierce!!!!
