Film star Hugh Jackman, who is currently appearing in movie theaters nationwide in X-Men 2 and who will be making his Broadway debut as Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz this fall, has been announced as the host of this year’s Tony Awards ceremony.
Prior to achieving major name recognition for his work in the 2000 film X-Men, Jackman starred as Curly in the Royal National Theatre production of Oklahoma! in London, as well as in Sunset Boulevard and Beauty and the Beast in Australia.
Joining Jackman on CBS’s live, three-hour telecast of the Tony Awards from Radio City Music Hall will be presenters Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Barbara Walters, Tyne Daly, Danny Glover, Christopher Reeve, Laurence Fishburne, Vanessa Redgrave, Lynn Redgrave, and Joey Fatone.
