Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' An Octoroon to Make West Coast Premiere

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Obie Award-winning play An Octoroon will have its West Coast premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in June 2017. Dates, casting, and additional information will be announced.
An Octoroon is a meta-melodrama version of the antebellum play The Octoroon, written by Dion Boucicault. In the play, "Judge Peyton is dead, and his plantation Terrebonne is in financial ruins. Peyton's handsome nephew George arrives as heir apparent, and quickly falls in love with Zoe, a beautiful 'octoroon.' But the evil overseer M'Closky has other plans — for both Terrebonne and Zoe."

"What Branden Jacobs-Jenkins has created with An Octoroon meets our shared standard for works that challenge as well as entertain us. It’s no surprise that this play was one of the hottest tickets in New York last year."
