The benefit Made in New York!: A Celebration of New York’s African American Broadway History, originally scheduled for the Minskoff Theatre on June 29, has been postponed, due to a last minute emergency scheduling conflict with an honoree. A new date, time and location will be announced at a later date.

As previously announced, the benefit will honor Tony winner LaChanze, Dreamgirls composer Henry Krieger, and Emmy winner Melvin Van Peebles. LaChanze won her Tony for her performance in The Color Purple, and will be seen later this month playing Glinda in the Encores! Summer Stars production of The Wiz. Krieger won a Grammy for the cast recording of Dreamgirls, and his other scores include Side Show and Romantic Poetry. Peebles is recognized as one of the most influential people in the history of cinema for his commercialization of both Independent and Black films, including his blockbuster movie Sweet Sweetbacks Baaadasss Song, and will soon be seen Off-Broadway in his new show, Unmitigated Truth” (Life, Loves, a Lavatory & Ladies).
