Larry Bryggman will join the previously announced Mercedes Ruehl in Signature Theatre Company’s production of Edward Albee’s Occupant, to run May 6-June 29, with an opening set for June 5. Pam MacKinnon will direct.

Originally produced at Signature in 2002 in a limited engagement, with the late Anne Bancroft in the lead, the play is a portrait of Nevelson and a quest to capture a charismatic and complex artist and persona.

The design team will include Christine Jones (set), Jane Greenwood (costumes), and David Lander (lights).

Bryggman received Tony Award Nominations for his work in the Broadway productions of Proof and Picnic. Additional Main Stem credits include Festen, 12 Angry Men, Prelude to a Kiss, Richard III, and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. He has won two Best Actor Emmy’s for his role of John Dixon in As the World Turns.

Ruehl won the Tony Award for Lost in Yonkers and last appeared on Broadway in Albee’s The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, for which she received a Drama Desk Award and a Tony nomination. She won the Academy Award for The Fisher King; her other film credits include Big and Married to the Mob.
