Casting has been announced for the pre-Broadway production of Anaïs Mitchell's Hadestown at The Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Canada, November 11-December 3.

Patrick Page and Amber Gray, who played Hades and Persephone, respectively, in the show's original hit off-Broadway engagement at New York Theatre Workshop in 2016, will reprise their roles at the Citadel. Reeve Carney and T.V. Carpio will play Orpheus and Eurydice, and Kingsley Leggs will play Hermes. Vance Avery, Kira Guloien, Jewelle Blackman, Evangelia Kambites, Andrew Broderick, Tara Jackson, and Hal Wesley Rogers round out the company as Fates and Workers.

Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812), who directed the original New York Theater Workshop production, will direct the Citadel production as well.

Inspired by traditions of classic American folk music and vintage New Orleans jazz, Hadestown follows Orpheus's mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice. Together we travel from wide open plains where love and music are not enough nourishment to survive the winter, down to Hadestown, an industrialized world of mindless labor and full stomachs.

Coconceived by Ben T. Matchstick, Hadestown features music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, arrangements and orchestrations by Michael Chorney, and co-arrangements and orchestrations and music supervision by Todd Sickafoose.
