Original Casts of Cry-Baby, Bare, Lysistrata Jones, and More to Reunite
Stars from several cult-classic musicals will return to those shows for one night only at 54 Below.
Broadway nightclub 54 Below will play host to reunions of original cast members from several cult-favorite musicals in the coming months.
Rob Evan and Kate Shindle will return to the Frank Wildhorn-Leslie Bricusse musical Jekyll & Hyde on August 7 and 8, with a concert featuring songs from the show. They will be joined by Janine DiVita and a band that includes TSO's Angus Clark on electric guitar.
On August 31, the 2000 musical Saturday Night Fever will return to the stage, in a concert that reunites original cast members Paige Price, Paul Castree, James Carpinello, and Bryan Batt, alongside Shannon O'Doyle, Jay Ellis, Casey Garvin, James LaRosa, Ray DeMattis, Maddy Apple, Natalie Weiss, and Haley Swindal.
The short-lived David Javerbaum-Adam Schlesinger musical Cry-Baby will be celebrated on September 17. The concert is scheduled to include stars James Snyder, Elizabeth Stanley, Chester Gregory, Christopher J. Hanke, Harriet Harris, Alli Mauzey, and Richard Poe, as well as ensemble members Cameron Adams, Nick Blaemire, Michael Buchanan, Colin Cunliffe, Lacey Kohl, Marty Lawson, Spencer Liff, Mayumi Miguel, Eric Sciotto, Peter Matthew Smith, and Charlie Sutton.
On October 12, members of the original Los Angeles, New York City, album, and revival casts of Damon Intrabartolo and Jon Hartmere Jr.'s pop opera bare will reunite for a concert of music from the show. Led by original director Kristin Hanggi and musical director Jesse Vargas, the evening will serve as a memorial and celebration of the life of composer Intrabartolo, who died in August 2013. Full casting will be announced.
December 6 will see a reunion of Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn's Lysistrata Jones, with a cast led by Patti Murin, Josh Segarra, Jason Tam, Lindsay Nicole Chambers, Ato Blankson-Wood, Katie Boren, LaVon Fisher-Wilson, Kat Nejat, Libby Servais, LaQuet Sharnell, Charlie Sutton, Teddy Toye, and Jared Zirilli.
February 1, 2016, will see Tony nominees Christopher Fitzgerald and Jeremy Shamos return to Scott Brown and Anthony King's Gutenberg! The Musical!, which they originated off-Broadway in 2007.
