Great Performances Announces Lineup for Broadway's Best on PBS

The fall series will kick off with the Tony-nominated Gershwin musical ”An American in Paris”.

Thirteen's Great Performances has announced the programming set for its Broadway's Best series, scheduled to air Fridays from November 2-23 at 9pm on PBS.

Returning for a second year, the fall lineup will open with An American in Paris (November 2), the 2015 Tony-nominated musical choreographed and directed by Christopher Wheeldon, and starring Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope.

Airing November 9 will be Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, the 2015 live UK broadcast version starring Kara Tointon as Maria, Julian Ovenden as Captain von Trapp, Katherine Kelley as Baroness Schraeder, Alexander Armstrong as Max, and Maria Friedman as the Mother Abbess.

Scheduled for November 16 is John Leguizamo's Road to Broadway, a documentary about the making of John Leguizamo's Tony-nominated play Latin History for Morons, which ran at Studio 54 from November 2017-February 2018.

Closing the series on November 23 will be Harold Prince: The Director's Life, a documentary about 21-time Tony-winning director and producer Harold Prince. In addition to archival clips, the film includes interviews with many of Prince's renowned collaborators, including Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mandy Patinkin, John Kander, Susan Stroman, and Angela Lansbury.
