Derek Hough, a Dancing With Stars favorite and veteran of Broadway's Burn the Floor, will return to the Great White Way as the star of Théâtre du Châtelet's recent production of Singin' in the Rain, according to published reports. Per Variety, producer Harvey Weinstein (Finding Neverland) made the announcement at a pre-Oscars dinner party where Hough performed two songs from the show.

As previously reported, Robert Carsen will direct, with choreography by Stephen Mear.

In addition to having made his Broadway debut in 2010 in the dance-centric Burn the Floor, last year Hough appeared on the New York stage in a starring role in Radio City Music Hall's New York Spring Spectacular. That production, which featured cocreative direction by Tony winner Diane Paulus and her husband, producer Randy Weiner, also starred Tony winner Laura Benanti (She Loves Me).

Weinstein's production will mark the first Broadway revival of Singin' in the Rain since its original run in 1985. The Adolph Green/Betty Comden musical, which features songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, is best known from the original 1952 American musical comedy film directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, starring Kelly, Donald O'Connor, and Debbie Reynolds.
