Louisiana native Jamie Wax has built a dynamic and multifaceted career as a playwright, journalist, actor, and comedian. He began performing stand-up comedy at 14, touring extensively and sharing the stage with some of the industry’s biggest names. While working the comedy circuit, he developed his acclaimed solo shows, which he has performed across the country.
As a playwright, he collaborated with composer Paul Taranto to create the musical Evangeline, which aired nationally on PBS and was recognized as a PBS Pick of the Week. The duo later received a National Endowment for the Arts grant for their musical Passages, which was also adapted into an award-winning public television special.
Wax’s acting credits span both stage and screen. He played Puck in two separate productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream under the direction of Barry Kyle of the Royal Shakespeare Company. In New York and on tour, he portrayed exuberant wine expert Charles Thompson in Wine Lovers and contributed as a creative consultant and cast member for Soul Doctor during its pre-Broadway run at New York Theatre Workshop. Additional stage roles include playing Toy in the play Guns for the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, and has appeared in numerous films and television shows.
