Darren Criss to Kick Off Hedwig and the Angry Inch National Tour

Criss will reprise the role he played on Broadway.

Darren Criss (Glee) will launch the upcoming national tour of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Criss will play the title role at the SHN Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco (October 4-30), before heading to Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles (November 1-27). Following these engagements with Criss, the national tour will continue across North America.

Criss played Hedwig on Broadway for 12 weeks in 2015. He will be joined on tour by the original Broadway band, Tits of Clay. It is made up of musical director Justin Craig (guitar and keyboards), Matt Duncan (bass), Tim Mislock (guitar), and Peter Yanowitz (drums). Casting for the role of Yitzhak will be announced in the coming months.

The musical follows the titular transgender rock performer as she recounts her life during a concert. Directed by Michael Mayer and featuring musical staging by Spencer Liff, Hedwig and the Angry Inch features a score by Stephen Trask, a book by Mitchell, and designs by Julian Crouch (set), Arianne Phillips (costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting), Mike Potter (hair and makeup), Timothy O'Heir (sound), Ethan Popp (music supervision), Liz Caplan (vocal supervision), and Johanna McKeon (associate director).
