Dianne Wiest Joins Theatre for a New Audience's 2016-17 Season

Theatre for a New Audience has announced the lineup for its 2016-17 season at the Polonsky Shakespeare Center.

The season begins with the 18th-century Italian comedy The Servant of Two Masters (November 6-December 4), written by Carlo Goldoni and adapted by Constance Congdon from a translation by Christina Sibul. The production will feature Steven Epp with direction by Christopher Bayes in his New York premiere.

Thornton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth will follow (February 12-March 19, 2017) with the first major New York production since a 1998 production at the Delacorte Theater. Arin Arbus will direct.

Theatre for a New Audience will then present Yale Repertory Theatre's production of Samuel Beckett's Happy Days (April 23-May 28, 2017). Directed by James Bundy, the New York mounting will star two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest.

Closing out the season will be Shakespeare's Measure for Measure (June 17-July 16, 2017), staged by Simon Godwin, associate director of London's National Theatre. The play marks his first production of Shakespeare with an American company.

As previously announced, Sam Gold's production of Hamlet will no longer be a part of the Theatre for a New Audience season.
