A Bronx Tale Star Jason Gotay Set for Prospect Theater Company's Death for Five Voices
Cara Reichel's cast will also include Manna Nichols and Nicholas Rodriguez.
Prospect Theater Company has announced principal casting for the premiere of the new musical drama Death for Five Voices, which will play from March 24-April 17, at the Sheen Center. Artistic director Cara Reichel will helm the production.
The production will star Jason Gotay (Paper Mill Playhouse's A Bronx Tale) as Carlo Gesualdo, Manna Nichols (Allegiance) as Maria D'Avalos, and Nicholas Rodriguez (Tarzan) as Fabrizio Carafa. The company also includes Meghan McGeary as Girolama Gesualdo and Jeff Williams as Alfonso Gesualdo, with Ryan Bauer-Walsh as Pietro Marziale, and L.R. Davidson as Sylvia Albana.
Featuring music and lyrics by Peter Mills and a book by Mills and Cara Reichel, Death for Five Voices explores the early life of Renaissance composer and murderer Carlo Gesualdo. With a score that incorporates themes from Gesualdo's sacred music, the musical investigates how the composer's creative life may have been related to his brutal actions.
The creative team also includes music director Max Mamon, fight choreographer Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum, scenic designer Ann Bartek, costume designer Sidney Shannon, lighting designer Susan M. Nicholson, and sound designer Janie Bullard.
