Dear World, the final show in the 2017 Musicals in Mufti Series from York Theatre Company, has released their first production photos of the musical just in time to honor opening night, Sunday, February 26. Featuring a book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, a revised book by David Thompson, and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman, Dear World stars Tony winner Tyne Daly as Countess Aurelia, the role created to Tony-winning effect by Angela Lansbury. Performances continue through March 5. Check out photos from the production in the gallery below.

Dear World, based on an adaptation by Maurice Valency of the play The Madwoman of Chaillot by Jean Giraudoux, is described as follows: When a group of businessmen scheme to drill for oil in Paris, there is only one force in the world that can stop them: Countess Aurelia, the Madwoman of Chaillot. With the help of idealism, love, and poetry—not to mention two other madwomen, a local sewerman, and a pair of young lovers—the Countess fights to save Paris and the world from greed.

Michael Montel directs the cast of Alison Fraser (First Daughter Suite), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), Lenny Wolpe (Wicked), Dewey Caddell (Finian’s Rainbow), J. Bernard Calloway (Memphis), Ben Cherry (Fiddler on the Roof), Stephen Mo Hanan (Jolson & Co.), Erika Henningsen (Les Misérables), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Peter Land (My Fair Lady), Gordon Stanley (Ragtime), and Kristopher Thompson-Bolden (The Nutty Professor).

The production team includes stage manager Kimothy Cruse, and assistant stage manager Shanna Allison, with music direction by Christopher McGovern (Cagney).
