Tony nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge directs and choreographs Flat Rock Playhouse’s production of the musical Chicago at the State Theatre of North Carolina, May 18-June 12.

With book by Fred Ebb & Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the vaudeville musical is the tale of merry murderesses; greed and corruption; and jazz in 1920s Chicago. In an era of speakeasies, bobbed hairdos and gangster warfare – two women literally get away with murder with the help of their fast-talking, money-hungry lawyer by manipulating public opinion through sex and publicity.

The production stars Erin Maguire as Velma Kelly, Erica Sweany as Roxie Hart, Michael Marotta as Billy Flynn, William Thomas Evans as Amos Hart, Gwendolyn Jones as Matron “Mama” Morton and D. Micciche as Mary Sunshine. Other cast members will include J.David Anderson, Kelli Joelle Bartlett, Ann Cooley, Desiree Davar, Aleka Emerson, Sarah Marie Hicks, Michael Jablonski, Gregory Pember, Cid Roberts, Rod Roberts and Minami Yusui.

The creative team includes Ann Cooley (associate choreographer), George Wilkins, Jr. (musical director), Amy Elizabeth Jones (music supervisor), Dennis C. Maulden (scenic design), Janine Marie McCabe (costume design), Paul Toben (lighting design), and Allen Sanders (sound design).

Dodge received a Tony nomination for her direction of the revival of Ragtime, which she also choreographed.
