Violet Arrives at SpeakEasy Stage

Violet starts its run at SpeakEasy Stage Company this evening.

Based on The Ugliest Pilgrim by Doris Betts and set in 1964, the show follows a young woman on her journey from North Carolina to Tulsa. She believes that once she reaches the Oklahoma city, the faith-healer she is looking for will magically transform her life. However, it is on the way there, as she forms friendships with her fellow passengers, that she realizes it is the journeys you take in life that help you discover who you are.

The show features music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics and book by Brian Crawly. It is directed by Paul Daigneault and features Alison McCartan as Violet, with Dan Belnavis, Tyla Collier, Patrick Greeley, Nile Scott Hawver, Audree Hedequist, John F. King, Stephen Markarian, Micahel Mendiola, Carolyn Saxon, and Kathy St. George.

The creative team includes Matt Stern (musical direction), David Connolly (choreography), Eric Levenson (set design), Charles Schoonmaker (costume design), Karen Perlow (lighting design), and David Remedios (sound design).

Performances will run through February 6.
