Sally Robinson has penned the adaptation, which is based upon Robert Harling’s play of the same name. The work is set in present-day Louisiana, and charts the lives and friendship amongst a group of women as they congregate at Truvy’s beauty shop.
The cast features Queen Latifah (M’Lynn), Adepero Oduye (Annelle), Condola Rashad (Shelby), Phylicia Rashad (Clairee), Jill Scott (Truvy), and Alfre Woodard (Ouiser).
