Tony Award nominee Valarie Pettiford‘s second full-length album, Velvet Sky, will be released on September 18.
The disc is a collection of original lullabies that were written especially for Pettiford by Ron Abel, Chuck Steffan, Jamie Wooten and Michael Orland, produced by Tony Rader. They range from songs that inspire game-play between parents and their babies to songs that are simply to lull babies (of all ages) to sleep.
Pettiford received a Tony nomination for Fosse, and is also known for her television work, including House of Payne, Criminal Minds, and Half and Half. She will soon be seen on the big screen in the film, Battlefield America.
