The annual Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS Easter Bonnet Competition will take place April 24 and April 25, it has been announced. The shows will be held at the Minskoff Theatre, home to The Lion King.

The Easter Bonnet Competition is the annual theater community celebration that ends six weeks of intensive fundraising efforts by dozens of Broadway, off-Broadway, and national touring productions. In addition to singing, dancing, and comedic skits, participating shows present creative and elaborate Easter bonnets created especially for the event. Awards will be presented to the best presentation and best bonnet design across both performances as well as to the companies that raise the most money for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS.

The fundraising efforts begin today, March 10, at Aladdin, The Book of Mormon, Cats, The Lion King, The Great Comet, Cirque du Soleil Paramour, School of Rock, Sunset Boulevard, and Wicked, where casts, crews, and other volunteers will accept audience members' donations following performances. Next week, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, In Transit, Kinky Boots, On Your Feet!, The Phantom of the Opera, and Significant Other join in.

This year's special guests and celebrity judges at the April 24 and 25 performances will be announced later this spring.
