Disney Theatrical Productions is producing the show. Two-time Tony Award winner Bob Crowley (Aida, Carousel) will direct and design the show’s sets and costumes. The score will be composed by six-time Grammy Award winner Phil Collins, who wrote some songs for Disney’s Tarzan film, and the book will be written by Tony winner David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly).
The production will feature choreography by Meryl Tankard, aerial movement designed by Pichon Baldinu, lighting by Natasha Katz, sound by John Shivers, vocal arrangements by Paul Bogaev, and orchestrations by Doug Besterman. There will be a cast of 34, but no names have yet been announced. An open casting call for the title role was held in New York City last month.
Disney Theatrical Productions is currently represented on Broadway by The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
