Tony and Olivier Award winner Richard Griffiths will join the previously announced star Matt LeBlanc and Tony Award nominee Stephen Mangan in the forthcoming Showtime/BBC’s comedy series Episodes, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The series centers on a successful British husband-and-wife comedy team (played by Mangan and Claire Forlani) who are thrilled by the prospect of producing a U.S. version of their hit series, but ultimately are forced to replace the erudite British lead from the original (Griffiths) with a quintessential U.S. comedy star (LeBlanc).
Griffiths won the Tony and Oliver for his work in The History Boys and also starred in the film version. He was last seen on Broadway starring opposite Daniel Radcliffe in Equus, and recently starred in the National Theatre production of The Habit of Art in London. His film credits include the Harry Potter series, as well as Gandhi and The French Lieutenant’s Woman.
