Campbell is a musical director and conductor on Broadway.
Transport Group honored orchestrator and music director Mary-Mitchell Campbell on February 6 at the Times Center. Campbell received the Transporting American Theatre Award, which recognizes significant contributions to American theater.
Performers included Broadway favorites Melissa Errico and Raúl Esparza, who reprised their performances as Georges and Dot from the 2002 Kennedy Center production of Sunday in the Park With George, as well as Tituss Burgess, Debra Monk, and others.
Campbell's most recent credits include orchestrations for Sweet Charity, starring Sutton Foster, and musical direction for Kristin Chenoweth: My Love Letter to Broadway. She has also lent music direction and orchestrations to Tuck Everlasting, Finding Neverland, Company (Drama Desk Award win for Orchestrations), Allegro (Drama Desk Award nomination for Orchestrations), The Addams Family, Carrie, Sweeney Todd, Road Show, and Next to Normal.
For Transport Group, Campbell served as musical director for First Lady Suite and orchestrator for Hello Again (Drama Desk Award nomination). In addition to her musical career, Campbell, the founder of ASTEP — Artists Striving to End Poverty, is passionate about arts education and poverty reduction. She has been featured on the television show Giving, and was NY1's New Yorker of the Week for her philanthropic work. She has served on the faculties of NYU, Boston College, and Juilliard, and holds degrees from Furman University and North Carolina School of the Arts.
