Stage and screen star Mary Jo Catlett will play Rosie in Musical Theatre West’s production of The Wedding Singer, to run July 8-24 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center. Larry Raben will direct the production, which will feature choreography by Spencer Liff and have musical direction by David Lamoureux. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
Based on the 1998 movie of the same name, and featuring music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, the show centers on the headman for a wedding band, who finds unexpected love after being jilted by his fiancée.
Catlett’s Broadway credits include Hello, Dolly!, The Pajama Game, Canterbury Tales, and 70, Girls, 70, among others. On screen, she has been seen in movies such as Serial Mom, The Champ, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Beethoven’s Fifth. She may be best known for playing Pearl on Diff’rent Strokes.
