La MaMa E.T.C., an off-Broadway theater complex located in the East Village, has announced its 54th season, which includes a roster of local and international artists, both established and emerging.

La MaMa artistic director Mia Yoo said, "From Clove Galilee, who will direct and choreograph Mabou Mines in the world premiere of her Imagining the Imaginary Invalid, which was created in collaboration with her mother, the late Ruth Maleczech after Molière, to Squirts featuring legendary downtown queer artists alongside emerging young performers, the continued impact of the intergenerational exchange of ideas for which La MaMa is renowned is a focus of La MaMa’s 54th season."

The season will open with a production of Euripides’ Medea, directed by Italian avant-garde actor and author Dario D’Ambrosi and featuring a cast with differently abled actors. Also in October, Gardiner Comfort will return to the theater with The Elephant in Every Room I Enter, a tale about his experience at a Tourette’s Syndrome Conference in Washington, D.C.

Later productions will include the 2015 La MaMa Puppet Series (November), curated by Denise Greber, Pioneers Go East Collective's Hildegard (December 3-13), and Cherchez La Femme (March 31-April 17), a new musical by August Darnell (Kid Creole), Vivien Goldman, and Stony Browder Jr.

Founded in 1961 by theater pioneer Ellen Stewart, La MaMa is a global organization that presents an average of 60-70 productions annually. To date, over 3,500 productions have been presented at La MaMa with artists from more than 70 nations.
