The orchestra will welcome several major Broadway stars.
The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra will present concerts from Broadway vets including Sutton Foster, Kristin Chenoweth, and Vanessa Williams during its 2016-17 season.
Chenoweth will take the stage of the orchestra's Taft Theatre on June 25, with Mary-Mitchell Campbell serving as conductor. Williams will follow with an October 9 concert, with tunes spanning her career on Broadway, on-screen, and in the music industry, with hits including "Saving the Best for Last" and "Colors of the Wind." Foster will bring her concert Sutton Foster's Broadway to the venue from February 24-26, 2017, with tunes that put a contemporary spin on the Broadway songbook. It will also pay tribute to the 125th birthday of Cole Porter.
Highlights from the season also include performances by Aretha Franklin (July 24, 2016), Melissa Etheridge (January 8, 2017), Smokey Robinson (January 21-22, 2017), and Ben Folds (May 9). Highlights from the Disney songbook will be heard from April 28-30.
