The cast and creative team of John Kander and Greg Pierce's Kid Victory met the press at their rehearsal studio on January 5. Directed by Liesl Tommy, the production begins previews on February 1 at the Vineyard Theatre, with opening night set for February 22.
The musical stars Ann Arvia, Joel Blum, Laura Darrell, Jeffry Denman, Brandon Flynn, Daniel Jenkins, Dee Roscioli, Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba, and Blake Zolfo.
In Kid Victory, 17-year-old Luke returns to his small Kansas town after a wrenching one-year absence. As his friendship grows with the town misfit, Emily, his parents realize that in order to truly find their son, they must confront some unnerving truths about his disappearance. The musical boasts book and lyrics by Pierce, music by Kander, and story by Kander and Pierce.
Kid Victory will feature choreography by Christopher Windom, scenic design by Clint Ramos, costumes by Jacob Climer, lighting by David Weiner, and sound design by Peter Hylenski. David Loud serves as music supervisor, Michael Starobin as orchestrator, and Jesse Kissel as music director.
