The York Theatre Company has announced that Glory Crampton (Death Takes a Holiday) will join previously announced Tony Award nominee Robert Cuccioli in the world premiere production of Rothschild & Sons. The new musical will begin performances on October 6 for a limited engagement slated to run through November 8. Opening night is planned for October 18.

With music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, book by Sherman Yellen, Rothschild & Sons is based on the creators' original The Rothschilds, which is itself inspired by the novel of the same name by Frederic Morton. The work also features several songs not included in the original, with new lyrics by Harnick.

This one-act, intimate reimagining of the musical focuses on the relationships between the patriarch of the family, Mayer Rothschild (Cuccioli), his wife Gutele (Crampton), and their five sons. Additional casting will be announced shortly.

The original Broadway production of The Rothschilds, which played for over 500 performances in 1970, was the last collaboration between Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick.
