Glen Berger, one of the co-authors of Broadway’s Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, will pen a tell-all book about his experiences working on the high-profile musical, according to The New York Times.
Expected to be completed in 2013, the memoir, titled Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Story of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History, will be published by Simon & Schuster.
Berger, an Off-Broadway playwright whose works include The Wooden Breeks and Underneath the Lintel, was first hired to co-write Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark with original director Julie Taymor.
After much high-profile controversy including delayed performances, budgetary issues, and cast injuries, the musical was revamped by new director Philip William McKinley and playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Berger retains co-author credit along with Aguirre-Sacasa and Taymor. The show, which features a score by Bono and The Edge, is currently running at the Foxwoods Theatre.
