Tony Award winner Elton John is writing his first book, entitled, Love is the Cure: Ending the Global Aids Epidemic, according to The New York Times.

The work will include John’s own personal reminiscences of friends who have died of AIDS-related causes, with proceeds going to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The volume will be published in Britain by Hodder & Stoughton in July, with U.S. publishing from Little, Brown. John himself will be featured reading the audio book version.

John won a Tony for his score to Aida and has also composed the scores for the Broadway musicals Billy Elliot, The Lion King and Lestat. He has been one of the top-selling recording artists in the world for over four decades.
