Elevator Repair Service’s The Sun Also Rises to Be Presented at Philadelphia’s Live Arts Festival

Elevator Repair Service’s theatrical adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s novel The Sun Also Rises will be presented as part of Philadelphia’s Live Arts Festival this September, according to the company’s website. John Collins will direct the piece.

The production was developed at Florida’s Ringling International Arts Festival last October and will receive further developmental at New York Theatre Workshop this spring. The production will also be presented at this theater in full production, as well as in the U.K., at dates to be announced.

The Sun Also Rises focuses on a group of expatriate Americans and English citizens who are living in continental Europe during the 1920s. The company features Mike Iveson, Vin Knight, Kate Scelsa, Kaneza Schaal, Scott Shepherd, Susie Sokol, Lucy Taylor, Matt Tierney, and Ben Williams.

The creative team includes David Zinn (scenic design), Mark Barton (lighting design), Matt Tierney and Ben Williams (sound design), and Colleen Werthmann (costume design).
