Award-winning experimental theater group Elevator Repair Service will present free performances of their new work, Shuffle, in the DeWitt Periodical Room of the New York Public Library on Saturday, May 21 from 1pm to6pm and Sunday, May 22 1pm to 4pm.
Through this collaboration with installation artist Ben Rubin and UCLA statistician Mark Hansen, the company looks back on its last three pieces through the lens of creative data analysis. The result is a site-specific mash-up where the company attempts to read The Great Gatsby, The Sound and the Fury and The Sun Also Rises simultaneously.
The script, generated in real time, will be performed by ERS’s actors, who will emerge from the nooks and crannies of the Periodicals Room to create unpredictable scenes.
