Decca Records will release the soundtrack for the new film Easy Virtue, based on the Noel Coward play, on May 19.
As previously announced, the film, which will open on May 22, stars Jessica Biel, Colin Firth, Ben Barnes, and Kristin Scott Thomas. It focuses on John Whittaker (Barnes), a young Englishman who falls madly in love with Larita (Biel), a sexy and glamorous American woman. After they marry impetuously and the couple returns to the family home, his mother Mrs. Whittaker (Thomas) has an instant allergic reaction to her new daughter-in-law. Larita quickly realizes Mrs. Whittaker’s game and sees that she must fight back if she’s not going to lose John.
The compilation features many Cole Porter and Noel Coward classics, with Biel, Firth, and Barnes singing on the soundtrack, along with other artists (including The Little Mermaid‘s Sean Palmer).
The track list includes “Mad About the Boy,” “A Room with a View,” “Makin Whoopee,” “You’re the Top,” “Car Wash,” “Mad Dogs and Englishmen,” “In the Library,” “You Do Something to Me,” “All God’s Children Got Rhythm,” “Sex Bomb,” “Let’s Misbehave,” “When You’re Smiling,” “Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag,” “I’ll See You Again,” “Easy Virtue Foxtrot,” “Easy Virtue Tango,” and “When the Going Gets Tough the Tough Get Going.”
