Lincoln Center has announced the lineup of artists that will perform as part of its Free Thursdays series at the David Rubenstein Atrium in June.
Theater-based performance will be represented by Feminists are Funny (June 16), performed by Guerrilla Girls on Tour! In the piece, the troupe will rework its signature show, with up-to-the-minute commentary on hot political topics, breaking news in women’s issues and bunches of bananas in a riotous romp of skits songs and parodies that address reproductive rights, war, sex trafficking, hunger, herstory/history/hirstory and violence against women. In addition, actor/poet Darian Dauchan will lead the three-person group The Mighty Third Rail in a performance on June 23 that will combine elements of hip-hop poetry, beatboxing, violin, and bass.
Other offerings will include Sybarites: The Shuffle Effect (June 2), in which the order of the program, which includes music from Radiohead to Mozart, is determined by an iPod set to shuffle, and a performance by violinist Sean Lee (June 9). In addition, songwriter/singer Julie Gold will celebrate the release of her new CD Love Is Love Is Love with a concert on June 30.
Admission to the performances is free. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
