The OG George Washington will step into the Broadway production this September.

Christopher Jackson, who originated the role of George Washington in Hamilton, will return to the role at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers Theatre September 8 through January 3, 2027.
“Returning to Hamilton as George Washington is a deeply meaningful homecoming,” said Jackson. “This show changed my life, and it remains one of the great honors of my career to be part of telling this story.”
A Tony nominee for Hamilton, Jackson received a Grammy Award as a principal soloist on the original Broadway cast recording. He was last seen on Broadway in Celebrity Autobiography, the only new Broadway show to open in May, which just announced its early closing at the Shubert Theatre.
The winner of 11 Tony Awards, Hamilton is one of the most successful Broadway musicals ever. It tells the story of America’s first treasury secretary using radio-ready pop and hip-hop songs. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the book, music, and lyrics, with direction by Thomas Kail, and choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler.
