Producer Jeffrey Seller and Broadway in Boston have announced that the national tour of Broadway's Hamilton will come to Boston as part of the 2017-18 Lexus Broadway in Boston season. Engagement dates and public on-sale for single tickets and groups will be announced at a later time.

Hamilton opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on August 6 after a run at the Public Theater. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, directed by Thomas Kail, and inspired by Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton, the musical explores the life of the American founding father and first Secretary of the Treasury. It follows Hamilton from his experiences as an orphan of the British West Indies who immigrated to the 13 Colonies to his role as a founding father who helped shape the United States of America.

On Broadway, Miranda takes on the title role alongside Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Drama Desk Award winner Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), Jonathan Groff (King George), Daveed Diggs (Marquis De Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson), Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Anthony Ramos (John Laurens, Phillip Hamilton), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan, James Madison), and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Shuyler, Maria Reynolds). Javier Muñoz plays Alexander Hamilton once a week.

In addition, Broadway in Boston has announced its 2016-17 season, which will include Something Rotten!, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, The King and I, Finding Neverland, The Illusionists, Cabaret, Wicked, and Jersey Boys.
