Duncan Sheik and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's new Broadway musical American Psycho celebrated its opening night at Broadway's Schoenfeld Theatre on April 21.
The show, which is directed by Rupert Goold (King Charles III), stars Benjamin Walker (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as 1980s banker/serial killer Patrick Bateman.
The cast also includes Tony winner Alice Ripley (Next to Normal) in the roles of Patrick Bateman's mother and Mrs. Wolfe, alongside Jennifer Damiano (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark) as Jean, and Heléne Yorke (Bullets Over Broadway) as Evelyn Williams.
The company also includes Drew Moerlein as Paul Owen, Krystina Alabado as Vandan, Dave Thomas Brown as David van Patten, Jordan Dean as Luis Carruthers, Anna Eilinsfeld as Victoria, Jason Hite as Sean Bateman, Ericka Hunter as Sabrina, Holly James as Christine, Keith Randolph Smith as Detective Kimball, Alex Michael Stoll as Craig McDermott, and Morgan Weed as Courtney Lawrence. The ensemble includes Sydney Morton, Anthony Sagaria, Neka Zang, Theo Stockman, and Brandon Kalm.
American Psycho is inspired by the novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis and had its world premiere at the Almeida Theatre in London in December 2013. The production features choreography by Lynne Page, music direction by Jason Hart, music supervision and vocal arrangements by David Shrubsole, scenic design by Es Devlin, lighting design by Justin Townsend, video design by Tony Award winner Finn Ross, costume design by Katrina Lindsay, and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier.
Following the performance, the cast, creative team, and guests headed to Stage 48 to toast the occasion.
