Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth will host Fire Island Dance Festival 17, an outdoor celebration of dance at Fire Island Pines, to be held July 16-17.
The event will feature performances by Brian Brooks Moving Company, Brandon Bryant, Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble, Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Sokvannara “Sy” Sar, and New York City Ballet principal ballerina Wendy Whelan and soloist Craig Hall. The festival also will showcase a pièce d’occasion by Dontee Kiehn, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet will present a special performance Friday, July 15.
Neuwirth won Tonys for her performances in Chicago and Sweet Charity. She is currently appearing in the Broadway musical, The Addams Family, through June 26.
The festival is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
