Aly Michalka and Spencer Sutherland to Make Broadway Debuts in & Juliet

Michalka will play Anne and Sutherland will play Romeo.

Singer and actor Aly Michalka and singer/songwriter Spencer Sutherland will make their Broadway debuts in the musical comedy & Juliet at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. Sutherland will play Romeo starting on Tuesday, September 15, and Michalka will begin performances in the role of Anne on Tuesday, November 3.

Michalka is known for the musical duo Aly & AJ with her sister AJ as well as roles in television, including Disney Channel’s Phil of the Future, and film, including Easy A.

Sutherland is an Ohio-born singer, songwriter, and actor who has collaborated with artists including A$AP Rocky and Meghan Trainor. His screen credits include Afterlife of the Party and I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Jeannette Bayardelle will return to the production for a limited time as Angélique from September 15-October 4. Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Chrissy Metz will play her final performances as Angélique on September 13. Original Broadway company member Megan Kane will return to the production from September 7-January 3, while Elsa Keefe takes a leave of absence.

As previously announced, Anthony Gargiula and Kenzie Ziegler will join the company as Francois and Charmion on September 15. Joey Fatone and Tony Award winner Paulo Szot have extended their runs, alternating the role of Lance through November 1. Reese Britts will play the role for select performances through November 1. Corey Mach has extended his run as Shakespeare, through October 4.
